I don't know about Solaris on intel but gnome compiles fine on sparc. The
only problem was with berkley DB (it took me quite a while to patch the
damned thing and make it compile). I wonder why Gnome uses it instead of
gdbm. Other than that I got no problems. Could you please explain why you
give up?
