Focus problems

Folks,
Finally got my internet connection working under Linux, I immediately upgraded my Debian potato to testing. I also installed helix gnome, and now IceWM is behaving strangely. I had it set on 'click to focus' mode, however everytime my mouse pointer hovers over the panel, my active window loses focus. Is this a known issue? and if yes, is the problem with the IceWM windowmanager or Helix Gnome?
