Well, I've had that for a while. When the latest announcement came out
about updates being available I did an apt-get upgrade and now gnome won't
run at all. This is what syslog shows:

<quote>
Jan 31 19:57:27 tc gnome-name-server[388]: starting
Jan 31 19:57:27 tc gnome-name-server[388]: name server starting
Jan 31 19:57:42 tc gnome-name-server[397]: server_is_alive: cnx[IDL:GNOME/Panel:1.0] = 0x8056680
Jan 31 19:58:56 tc gnome-name-server[405]: server_is_alive: cnx[IDL:GNOME/control_center:1.0] = 0x8056a70
Jan 31 19:59:46 tc gnome-name-server[388]: input condition is: 0x10, exiting
</quote>

What got screwed up? How do I fix it?

And sawfish has been screwed up for a while. The windows have no borders
and the control panel won't run.
