Here's a fix I did for something like that:

Go to /tmp directory and delete (or backup) everything you can find (I just
move it to another directory).  Use "ls -a" to make sure EVERYTHING is gone.
I'm only saying this because I'm still a newbie so I don't know which temp
files are for what services.  Anyway, when that's done, run this
"/etc/rc.d/initd./xfs status" and see if it says you have a xserver started
somewhere.  Probably thinks there's a session already started.  Then run
this "/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs start".  If it works then do a proper reboot of
your server and see if you can start your session.
