Sorry if my reaction is a little late...
I had sent a message to this list some time ago about the same kind of
problem, but with modem_light_applet.
But I didn't have any response.
I cannot anymore use any KDE2 app from gnome-panel : it complains about a
not started DCOPSERVER. And, because many KDE2 apps use DCOP even (!!!!) to
open files with the file-selector (which is a separate app...), my
KDE-section in the the panel-menu is useless (as any launcher pointing to a
KDE app...)
In fact I have the following general problem with the panel : it fails to
launch daemons(dcopserver...), to execute my pppon script (to activate my
ppp-interface for my modem) or any process that have root privilege
(red-carpet...).
I just wondered if it's a panel bug or a consequence of the choice for Gtk
to refuse to launch setuid gui-apps (since a few versions of gtk).
And I wondered if there would be a solution to this sometime.
My configuration : upgraded LinuxPPC-2K, ximian-gnome-1.4,
gtk+-1.2.10-ximian.9.
