Strange things happening

Recently I have been seeing some strange things happening. If anyone
can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

I have tried to pinpoint this done to a single app, but have been
unable to do so.

The first sign of my problem is that I will start an app and either
the window manager will decorate it with solid black, or it may
initially get decorated correct, but when I maximize it it will be
decorated with black. When un-maximized the true borer will return.

As I said this is just the start. Other things that I get after that
are.

gnome-terminal will crash on startup. This is a real pain as I
normally use the factory, and when this happens I loose all my
terminals.

More recently I have been having the panel crash when I attempt to
open a menu.

I am running 1.2 on FreeBSD. The window manager is sawfish.

If I log out and back in, things are fine for a while, but then
start to go wrong again.
