Well I got past my original errors.  I removed the freetype 1 directory
under my /home/xadm/X11R6/include node.  I guess I did need to manually
remove something.

As was mentioned by Darian, it appeared that it was picking up my
freetype 1 headers instead of my freetype 2.  

Nautilus is still building at this moment, I'm keeping my fingers
crossed.
