Error libgal.so.3 when upgrading gnumeric and Abiword

I am running on Gnome on RH6.0, I have now had two applications,
Gnumeric and
Abiword which have refused to upgrade because the rpm install complains
that the
library 'libgal.so.3 is needed'.

My question, what provides libgal.so.3? and can it be installed on RH6.0
or is it 
something specific to RH6.2 or 7.x?

Or is it a Gnome thing?
