Two Gnomes : Getting remote GOAD to work

Here is the scenario:
Two boxes:
	Solaris : Users running Gnome-sessions OK
		running "local" goad-browser works
	Linux : running gnome-session
		running "local" goad-browser works
		xhost (sunbox)
		open 
		runs plain-gmc OK
		runs things like gnumeric
		cannot run Solaris goad
			crashes after a few secs
			** WARNING **: Could not get name service!
Is this a config problem, (if so, what is the magic
incantation), or something else?
Its probably something silly, but I cannot figure it out
