But I am using GConf-0.9  !!

Reading the nautilus build requirements again, I see it recommends
GConf-0.7.  The complete list is ....

       gtkhtml      0.6.1
       medusa       0.2
       nautilus     0.1


Before I try anything else, I will re-compile the whole chain of
required modules again, using the versions it recommends, instead of the
later ones I was using
