GNOME does not like UID changes, nor $HOME change either, it is a bit
nit picky about that things, while the rest of apps can live with
changes pretty fine. You have to change any reference from old data to
new data and that includes files left in /tmp by apps like orbit, esd
or sawfish, as well as config data under ~/.gnome* dirs. I guess your
problem lies in the /tmp dirs & files.

I think patches are welcome, but if problems persist in future
revisions and rewrites, please start a fund to buy some clue sticks
for the coders. ;]
