Major issue with gnome-libs-1.0.61 on Solaris

It seems that (on Solaris) _all_ icon-aware GNOME apps fail to start
if an icon is specified (or GNOME_DESKTOP_ICON is set).

For example, gnome-terminal crashes with a SIGBUS. I am rebuilding
my libraries with debug enabled so I can get a sensible stack trace.
This takes *time* on a Sparc 10....

In the meantime, would anyone like to speculate on the cause?
If someone can point towards the right area of gnome-libs, I can
start looking at the code to see if there's anything obvious.
