URL on Gnome troubleshooting

Hi,
Is there a good URL on how to troubleshoot Gnome. I have installed it
(Helix) on a Solaris 7 box, but it won't start. After i login i come back at
the Login screen.
How to troubleshoot? Are there any logfiles other than startlog and
errorlog?
