helix gnome 1.2

I just recently upgraded to gnome 1.2 using helix RPMs
When gnome starts, I get an error dialog box that says
"Default set of icons not found, check your installation"
When I click on the box another one just pops up.
I'm not getting any response to queries elsewhere, maybe someone on the
list has a clue what is going on. Thanks in advance.
