I got gnome-applets from CVS, and slash_applet still didn't work.  I read
the documents and see that I can't commit as anonymous (makes sense... hehe)

so if someone would change line 340 from:

ghttp_set_uri(request, "http://www.gnome.org/news/gnome-news.txt");

to:

ghttp_set_uri(request, "http://www.slashdot.org/slashdot.rdf");

then everyone would be able to see the slashdot articles scroll by, like I
can;)

http://news.gnome.org/gnome-news/rdf also works as a news source, perhaps I
can hack slash_applet to pull news from multiple, configurable sources over
the weekend.

Whoever commits for me, thanks;)
