What OS are you running?  Inserting a CD generates a system event on PC
hardware, but inserting a floppy disk does not.  This system event can
be "picked up" by a running program, and used to "auto-mount" that CD. 
Floppies must be manually mounted (or semi-manually) on PC hardware,
because there is no system event.
	Greg
