How do I turn off the "save yourself"?

When I run apps in gdb and stop them on a breakpoint I get constant 
application popup windows that say "<my app> failed to respond to 
the "save yourself" command" and asking me if I want to terminate 
the app.  (these are from GNOME)  How do I turn these off?
