Gnome, KDE flamebait

Hi guys,

As a traditional Gnome user (who really likes some of the recent KDE
developments) I have a few points of conversation.

Flaming on this thread as far as I am concerned is an absolute must! Strong
emotions can lead to clarification of issues. Let's just try and avoid
getting personal for the sake of it. There is some incredible work being
done on both sides, my interest is leveraging this work and
cross-fertilization.

a) How can we make Gnome and KDE work together in a nice clean way??? 
b) What are the relative advantages of both systems (dangerous question I
know, I ask merely to see which parts of each others code would be sensible
to steal (one of the major advantages of GPLness))
