On a related note - according to Alan Cox and some people - if you have
an SBLive! soundcard and a recentish driver (its on CVS) you can have
multiple files going on at once with esound. I'm not sure if this is only
devel kernel possible or with both (2.2 and 2.3 - not 2.0)...
Anyhow, this is really cool and is involved with multiple open's being
possible on /dev/dsp (or something like that) - It would be cool if
esound could detect the SBLive! driver and the recentish drivers (via
configure.in) and if it works, then don't do the 'manual mixing' but
just do the multiple open's on the hardware (but use the manual mixing if
you're gonna do network stuff).
then again - does esound even have a maintainer?
