installing .016

i am trying to install enlightenment .016 - right now i have .o15. i am running slackware 7.0 on a PC. ./configure worked fine, but when i type make, it runs for a while then says dox.h:56: freetype.h: no such file or directory. i typed whereis freetype.h, and sure enough, i don't have it. has anyone else run into this problem? where does the file freetype.h come from? why don't i have it?
