Evolution uses movemail?

Hello!

I installed Evolution and tried to use to read mail stored in a local
mbox spool (/var/spool/mail/USERNAME), but when I press the Check Mail
button, it complains that it couldn't find "movemail".

Upon further investigation, I found that movemail is a program that
comes with emacs. Is this true? Does evolution really need this? Why?
