compiling the BerkeleyDB on solaris for gnome you need
../dist//configure --prefix=PATH --enable-compat185
the make install, put everything under
PATH/BerkeleyDB
I personnally copy the Berkeley include and lib directory contents
into the corresponding GNOME dirs
AFTER, and only after you can configure (to get the -ldb)
for you:
make distclean
./configure XXXXX....
