Problem compiling libglade

Hi!

I'm compiling libglade, when I run ./configure --prefix=/usr I get:

configure:error: *** libxml >= 1.3 required to compile gnorpm
(it's not a typo, it says gnorpm)

I've got libxml  1.4.0 installed from an rpm. It locates xml-config, and
xml-config --version correctly reports libxml 1.4.0. What am I doing
wrong?
