I originally submitted a bug report (#2031) about this problem, and it
was fixed as of gnome-utils 1.0.13, but it looks like it's surfaced
again. I'm using gnome-core 1.1 and applets-1.1, and the rest October
Gnome. I've modified permissions on shutdown so that ordinary users can
use it, and the shutdown dialog appears when I log back.
At first I thought it was related to another problem that I I think is
caused in some way by gshutdown. At least 9 times out of 10 when I shut
down my system with gshutdown, my boot partition claims to be "busy"
when trying to umount near the end of the shutdown process. I had a
hunch that it was somehow related to the save-session occurring with
gshutdown. Tonight I put in a 5 second delay for the gshutdown
"shutdown" command, and in the few times I rebooted/shutdown, I didn't
get the device busy message. Is the save-session somehow threaded in
gshutdown, or does it wait to issue the shutdown command until the
save-session call is complete? Note that I'm guessing on how things
work since I haven't looked at the source yet.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it (as usual) "just me"?
Thanks,
Dan
