Re: GNome Startup Slowly

I don't know why the problem exists.
As I am going to use SuSE for some time instead of Mandrake, I think I would
not be able to investigate the problem.
But here are some hints that may help

Firstly, I have built and used gcc-2.95.1 once since I have installed
Mandrake, and build glibc-2.1.2 with compat, crypt, linuxthreads afterwards.
Then I built XFree86, all using gcc-2.95.1. I built GNome afterwards, the
only libraries that I don't use gcc-2.95.1 to compile is libtiff, libgr and
xpm because either their makefile have some errors, or their automake don't
make shared libraries. The other library that I don't compile is the PAM
modules, because I don't want to make my system a mess, I don't know what is
the consequences of manually making PAM modules.

>From the above, the basic GNome dependencies should have been well followed.
The only thing that I am not quite sure is the PAM modules.
Since gmc use it, you might want to delete all the desktop icons and restart
your X, if GNome gets normal, then I am sure that it is the PAM that have
some problem.

Hope that I can help.
