Call for (web)developers

Dear All,

I am currently heading up a team developing a website called LinuxNewbie.com.

As you may gather, we are aiming a users who are new to Linux and the Open
Source community, and since we are non-profit volunteers, we are looking
for support from the community to succede. The site will feature content
that you'd expect such as news, reviews, previews, features, opinions, etc.,
but we also want to go further than the standard offerings by reaching out
to our audience where they actually are.

Most Linux distributions now come with GNOME and KDE desktop environments,
and as such many new and existing Linux users are using these as an
alternative to existing Linux solutions or to Microsoft Windows and other
graphical user interfaces such as Macintosh, OS/2 and Amiga.

What we'd like to do is provide separate sections of the site dedicated to
supporting these environments with content such as reviews of GNOME/KDE
mailers, office suites and utilities. As a community effort, we are looking
for involvement and ideas in these areas across the site.

So I would like to ask if any of you feel that you would like to contribute
to our effort in some way. We are looking for anyone who has some time and
energy to help the community by providing content, site-coding and management
expertise, technical help for both staff and site visitors, graphical people,
anything else you can think of. If you can only write articles, that's fine,
but expertise in PHP and MySQL wouldbe advantageous.

Right now we have no firm commitments from anyone to run and manage the
GNOME/KDE sections, so if you're up to these jobs or want to volunteer in
the rest of the site, please get in touch with me we'll talk about your
ideas and possible contributions, from management to tutorials and
walk-throughs of popular software, to coding and maintainance.

Please e-mail myself, or volunteer@linuxnewbie.com to discuss things with me,
please don't reply on this list since it is uneccessary.

We rely on volunteers such as yourselves, you have the power to make the site
a success, please help us in doing this.

Many thanks in advance,

James Green jg@linuxnewbie.com
