Advice for those that download RPM dirs but only want to install a few
files: check the rpm man page or rpm --help and check for the freshen
option. IIRC it is -F param.
It is even better than upgrade, it gets the list of files, and upgrades
those already installed, leaving out those rpm files that you have never
installed. Upgrade option -U is upgrade or install, freshen -F is upgrade only.
