Yeah, AFAIK, gnome does some fairly naughty window reparenting to do
its swallowing stuff, and e is refusing to get involved.

The way I see it, gnome is pretty much "mugging" the wm, and stealing
its windows. Many wms give in to this without a fight (wimps), but e is
much too hard, and slaps gnome back down as it should ;-)

Of course the alternative perspective is that gnome does some pretty
cool tricks to get windows reparented and into the panel, and that
only some windowmanagers "support" this. Your viewpoint probably
depends on your interpretation of the standard, but I think its 
obvious what mine is ;-) 

As far as I'm concerned, only a wm should screw with windows.
