The messages are all like this:

** CRITICAL **: file applet-widget.c: line 655 (gnome_panel_applet_corba_init): assertion `panel_client != ((void *)0)' failed.

** CRITICAL **: file applet-widget.c: line 699 (applet_widget_new): assertion `corbadat!=NULL' failed.

** ERROR **: Can't create applet!

aborting...

(This is the error generated by mixer_applet, but the messages are the
same for the pager and any other panel applet.) Thanks for reply.
