documentation and other stuff

I'd be happy to do the documentation on the pixmap API which is horribly
lacking.  Unfortunately, in order to write it I need to use it first.
I've posted a question on the gnome-devel regarding how to use the
gnome-pixmap API to do the same sort of things that gtcd and asclock do.
Which is to map fonts in a pixmap file to actual letters.  I'm trying to
write a readerboard type applet but I'm having trouble.  

Looking at the code in asclock and gtcd has not really given me a clue on
exactly what the steps are.  

My plan is that as I use it, I'll document the API...
