CVS trunk (1.3a) is a very unstable development version which has just had
a truckload of merges, better to use:

  $ cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anoncvs@anoncvs.gnu.org:/gd/gnu/anoncvsroot co \
  -r branch-1-3 -d libtool-1.3pre libtool

which will be released as libtool-1.3 in a few days time, after which work
towards libtool-1.4 will proceed on the trunk...
