ORBit/libtool problem

Compiling latest ORBit from CVS (0.4.2) succeeds but make install fails
with:
libtool: install: invalid libtool pseudo library `libORBitutil.la'
make[3]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 1
...
My libtool version is 1.3a (really!)
