  This is off the top of my head, but I believe that at least gmc is also
affected.  In general, if you're seeing flakiness in a Gnome program, probably
the first thing to do is to switch to a non-Pixmap theme and try again.  (I've
learned this by reporting bugs and then seeing them vanish after switching
themes.:-) )  I no longer use Pixmap-based themes (which probably makes my
[ low-end ] system about 5 times faster :-) ) and will not until someone fixes
the bug.  If I had any idea where to start, I'd fix it.
