Crashy crashy

I'm very new to the gnome/enlightenment game, but I like what I "see" so
far.  However, one or the other, or a combination of the two sure seem to
crash/hang a lot.  I copied all the files from <ftp.gnome.org> three days
ago, so I'm pretty sure I'm up to date.  Some examples:

1.  The file manager has died several times while moving files/directories
around.

2.  Several of the games die after a short time of playing.

3.  The entire desktop has completely hung on 3-4 occasions.

For the past couple of years, I've used RH Linux with fvwm2 as my WM
without any crashes or hangs.  I really like the gnome/enlightenment look
and feel and will likely stick with it regardless.  I'm just hoping that
what I'm experiencing are just minor bugs that need to be worked out.  Is
my experience typical?
