rebuilt gnome, now nothing happens

Hi all.

I just finished rebuilding gnome, and now I get nothing but the generic
grey X background whn I start up.

I built and installed:
egcs 1.1.2
binutils 2.9.1.0.22b
(both from starbuck)
Then I had to re0install libstdc++-2.8 because the libstdc++ that egcs
builds breaks a whack of dependancies.

Then I built and installed everything GNOME from the GNOME site and the
updated ones from Starbuck.

I removed ~/.gnome, and start it with gnome-session and...nothing.

Did I pooch something here?
