the devel-docs directory has given me nothing but trouble in both 1.0.3
and 1.0.4

You can look through the various posts in the archive and they'll tell you
to download junk, which then makes you download more crap, which of course
is broken (jade) on my system.  And so on....

I finally gave up and removed the devel-docs directory entry from the top
level Makefile after I did a configure and it builds fine.  Of course
right about the time I finished this my primary network server died and I
never got a chance to test the final code.  Man it has been a day.
