Speaking of, has anyone taken (and organized) detailed notes on the
compilation of the tarballs from a fresh RH5.2 install? I've been trying
for about a week now, and have several (I think) consistent issues with
a few of the tarballs that have not been covered on the lists, or elsewhere.

My goal was mostly to sit down and annotate exactly through which
hoops I had to jump to go from a clean, Gnome/GTK+/E-free install of
RH5.2 to a fully-compiled installation of Gnome/GTK+ and
enlightenment, using tarballs and CVS where appropriate.

I got as far as compiling enlightenment and some other aspects of Gnome
before giving up in frustration due to inconsistencies between
ESound and Imlib, and everything else that depended upon them.

If anyone's insterested, I'll clean it up a bit, and share with eveyone.
What I was really after was pointers to cleaning up everything a bit so
the teeming hordes that yearn to install Gnome/Gtk+/E can do so without
losing great amounts of hair in the process.
