Can you also add section about:
export ACLOCAL="-I /install prefix/share/aclocal"

And where it just say rpms, you should also mention debs since that would be
P.C. and all.:)

Also, make && make install && ldconfig is a good idea.

Besides that you might want to mention that if you have gtk and glib and gnome
in same prefix, you don't need "--prefix-with-gtk/glib"
