slashapp applet? locks up my system

When I try to run the slashapp applet (think thats the name) - it totally
locks up my system - I'm guessing this is something that hits slashdot and
reads headlines?  


 Where do the config files for it - and for that matter - all the other
applets - live - anyone have any pointers?
