Why would you copy a document to the desktop? If the reason is that you need
it there to work on it for a while, then later when you no longer need it on
your desktop you'd have to delete your old copy, and move (again, not copy)
the modified document back to its old place.
Having multiple copies of the same file makes it very hard to keep it up
to date. I'm starting to believe now that linking would be the most useful
solution (except for removable media).

Now a somewhat different question. Should root icons be 'sticky' by default
across different workspaces? (I just checked, in icewm you can make them
unsticky.)
