You need to install the new 1.2 versions of glib and gtk for Gnome etc, but you 
don't want to remove the old versions just yet, as a load of other things need 
them.  So you instead need to install the new ones as fresh, not as an upgrade.

Having both sets on your system takes up a little more room, but since they 
aren't binary compatible, you need to do this to keep the older stuff running.
