You're right. I figured out what the problem was. I had audiofile 0.1.5
and esound 0.2.7 installed. I upgraded them to the latest versions, and
everything is working fine.

This is sort of weird, though. If Gnome is going to require esound 0.2.8
then configure should check for that. configure checks for 0.2.5.
