DND launch on Desktop/Panel?

Hi,

Using gmc can you can drag for an  picture for example onto gimp and
gimp will launch opening the picture. However this doesn´t seem to work
woth programs on the desktop (which is interesting as these are managed
by gmc), nor with the "launchers" on the panel. Is this missing or am I
missing something ?
