Why not try a distribution with package dependencies, a modern, high-tech
concept that eliminates exactly the problem you are having here? ;-)

Yep, that's the problem.

gnome-session was built with a libpopt that had poptHelpOptions, and your
libpopt doesn't have that symbol.
