I use Redhat 5.2 and Redhat 6.0 with Gnome, and I don't seem to have 
a library libintl.so.1 AFAIK

Which Linux-distribution do you use ? (Debian,Slackware,Redhat etc.)
Which Gnome-version did you install, and where did you get it from ?
