Gnome control panel

I am fairly new to linux.. I am running SuSE6.1 with enlightenment.. I have most of the new files for gnome except for the core. I am having trouble getting the gnome control console to come up.. When I click the remote control button, the panel comes up in my virtual desktop windows, but nothing happens on my screen.. The panel pops up only to refresh and go away. Please help!
