Gnome Canvas: should belong to gtk?

Hi, not trying to start flames or anything... just wonder
if the Gnome canvas functionalities should belong to gtk, or even
gdk?   I don't think there is any dependency on other parts of Gnome...

Of course, it is reasonable to argue that keeping the rendering engine
part of Gnome is a way to encourage Gnome application development...


Just a thought.
