I tried that out, but it didn't work. I have attached a copy of the
message I get when I try to run gnome-session from an xterm.
Gtk-WARNING **: GModule initialization check failed: Gtk+ version too new
(minor mismatch)

after this it always core dumps... this really looks like a config thing
on my end, but I just can't seem to locate it for some reason.
