CVS error message

Hi,

I tried posting this yesterday, but it didn't make it to the list.  Has
anyone else had this problem?

Anyway, what does this error message mean:

cvs checkout: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or
directory
cvs [checkout aborted]: cannot open CVS/Entries.Log: No such file or
directory

I managed to fix it by removing the (local) directory it was up to in
the checkout, and removing the entry in the CVS/Entries file.  Is this a
bug in CVS, or something else?
