libgnomeui.so.0 error

I'm getting the following error when trying to run the latest cvs of
Balsa.  This is on a Debian Potato system.  Can anyone tell me how I could
debug this?

Unable to connect to server port 35091
This generally means that the program could not talk to the esound server
